About MarkFlow
MarkFlow is a free, AI-powered Markdown converter that turns PDFs, Word documents, and HTML into clean, structured Markdown — and renders Markdown back into beautifully formatted documents.
Why it exists
Most "convert to Markdown" tools either produce a wall of garbled text or strip out everything that matters. MarkFlow uses Google Gemini to actually understand document structure — headings, lists, tables, footnotes, code blocks — and preserves it faithfully. The result is Markdown you can paste straight into a wiki, a static site, or a long-form note system without spending an hour cleaning it up.
What you can do with it
- PDF → Markdown — text-based PDFs out of the box; OCR for scanned PDFs is rolling out to approved users.
- Word (.docx) → Markdown — tables, lists, and inline formatting preserved.
- HTML → Markdown — paste raw HTML and get clean prose.
- Markdown → PDF / Word / HTML — render your notes into a polished, shareable document.
Privacy
Files you upload are processed in your browser and (when needed) on our Cloud Run backend. We don't sell your data, train models on your documents, or hold onto files longer than the conversion needs. Bring-your-own-Gemini-key is supported if you want the request to go directly from your browser to Google. For the full breakdown of what we collect, where it lives, and how to delete it, see the Privacy Policy and Terms.
Who built this
MarkFlow is built by Schoedel Design, an independent studio focused on practical AI tools and thoughtful software. We also write about how we build — read the blog for behind-the-scenes notes on tools like this one.
